WWF Living Planet @Campus Hackathon

Do you have a passion to implement positive actions for nature and adopt practices of sustainability in fun and unique ways?  Do you want to be part of a proud dynamic George Brown College Team, ready to compete against other Ontario Colleges to bring home an award for outstanding achievement?

A team of 6 GBC students will be chosen to represent GBC on Saturday March 24, 2018 for an exciting Hackathon which will look to identify “What’s the next big shift in the Circular Economy?” Look beyond today’s “take, make, waste” societal model and come up with innovative (regenerative) solutions for a transition to a more sustainable world.

Think about how we used to access media.  For decades, we were dependant on physical CD’s, DVDs, video tapes, records and travelling to movie theatres.  Almost overnight, the way we access media has shifted to lower consumer footprint through alternative delivery channels such as Netflix, iTunes etc. and this is happening globally.

What is the next big shift in the Circular Economy?

Join the team to flush out ideas around what could be the next big shift that could deliver reduction in pollution, waste etc. and deliver a sustainable advantage to the health of our delicate planet.   Is there something that we could implement throughout the GBC campuses that could be replicated across academic institutions worldwide?

You must be available to attend in person in downtown Toronto, on Saturday March 24 from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and another GBC team session beforehand that will be scheduled to suit selected participants.
