Some weeks are just more fun than others no matter how rewarding your work is, and Global Entrepreneurship Week 2019 at George Brown College was certainly one of those weeks for startGBC!!
Thank you to the amazing George Brown College Alumni Entrepreneurs who came out to help enthuse and motivate current students to learn about their individual entrepreneurial journeys. Simply fantastic to be in the room with such wonderful people who give back so much to the community they proudly call home. It never ceases to amaze me how these incredibly busy entrepreneurs ever find the time, but they do, and we are so grateful to them.
All of this supported again with our tremendously generous mentor advisors who also gave so many hours to support the personal growth of students. We held 3-speed mentoring sessions during the week and all were a hit with students as it gave them a chance to gain knowledge from industry professional. We hosted a number of skills building workshops and 6 students were awarded startGBC Fundamental Entrepreneur badges. And of course no entrepreneurship week would be complete without some social networking; and what a joyful time was had at the first George Brown College Global Entrepreneurship Week Networking Event where we had over 80 GBC alumni entrepreneurs, students and mentor advisor’s come out and connect with each other. Wonderful to witness and hear about the number of follow-up conversations that have occurred.
Of course, with 21 events across the entire college it was also amazing to see the seamless collaborations we had internally.
Huge thanks to the Digital Media and Gaming Incubator, Enactus George Brown and the Entreprenergy Entrepreneurship Club for putting on impactful events that helped students gain confidence and insight to pursue their entrepreneurial passion.
Lastly thanks to Dell Technologies for providing support that helped power the week.
