Ignite Capital Competition
APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 30, 2018
Ignite Capital is a Toronto-based not-for-profit that gives aspiring Ontario entrepreneurs, who have limited access to capital, the opportunity to compete for funding and business support.
Ignite Capital is an annual competition that invites emerging Ontario entrepreneurs who have limited access to capital, to compete for up to $15,000 in funding (combination of grant/loan) plus in-kind donations. Those that meet the criteria are invited to submit a business plan and two years of financials in one of three categories – Start Up (little or no sales), Scale Up (part-time or freelancers) and Grow Up (full time businesses). The applications are then reviewed by the internal Ignite team and a panel of business experts, shortlisting to three applicants per category who participate in a live pitch.
The program, established in 2012, is funded by Pat McNamara, an entrepreneur and founder of APEX Public Relations, one of our generous sponsors. It is managed by Business In The Streets, an affiliated organization which extends similar support to enterprising youth in Toronto.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS for all applicants in all categories.
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Canadian citizen / permanent resident and currently residing in Ontario. A copy of government issued photo ID (i.e. Driver’s License or Passport) is needed as proof for points 1 and 2.
- Should be 50% (or more) owner of a for-profit, registered business that is not more than five years old. For the Start Up category, the business must be less than two years old.
